The taper sounds like he was somewhere "in the Keith zone" for most, if not all of the show. I'm sticking with the great Miller transfer (the pitch corrected
...
version) of the soundboard for everyday listening of this tight beast of a show (the balance is better on the soundboard).
HOWEVER the Miller transfer does not include the Seastones, for whatever reason. This audience tape does and, as a bonus, we get to hear the audience reaction which is pretty priceless. Yes, there's some chatter near the beginning but that dies down and if you imagine yourself fully dosed and sitting (or standing or lying down) in the Civic Center with these friendly, laughing (or screaming) people as waves of subsonic energy pulse through your fibers you might enjoy some freebie flashback goosebumps like I just did.
Good stuff. Too bad it cuts at 12:40 moments before it appears to poised to achieve maximum glory. Let's hope there's a board copy in the Archive somwewhere ...
Also, I hope the guy who gives his name, phone number and address to the taper got a copy of this one. ;)
